Our precious boy, Sami had been suffering with a Hairball issue for a long time; He would vomit up Hairballs once a week and sometimes it would cause him to have diarrhea. Sami is a Siberian cat and has three layers of hair. We tried every Hairball remedy out there and made many trips to the vet to no avail. We noticed when we went from 3/4 tsp to 1 tsp Sami became more lethargic and ended up vomiting up liquid just three days after being on 1 tsp. All in all, Sami was two days short of six weeks from his last vomit. I totally believe that last 1/4 tsp added put him over the edge and made his stomach upset because he didn't vomit up a Hairball but liquid only. We immediately reduced his intake of Coconut oil and he is thriving on it.
For Sami, being almost thirteen pounds, his tolerable limit is 3/4 tsp daily, which we divide up to 1/4 tsp three times daily. So if you use the Coconut oil, adjust according to what your pet will tolerate for optimum health.
